This piece was done during the lull before 9/11. While I painted many paintings after the tragic event, this is only one of two I painted before that felt and feel linked to the occurrence. The anticipation, the feeling something was to change, something was coming. The other piece also began with the word WHAT.

The butterfly came later. It carries the weight of the question, “What Now?” and demonstrates lightness of being… in time.
